Cory Garcia joined the Criminal Defense/Disciplinary division of Koehler & Isaacs in February, 2018. Prior to joining Koehler & Isaacs, Mr. Garcia served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Office of the Bronx District Attorney. In his eight years in that capacity, he prosecuted misdemeanor and felony matters pending in Criminal and Supreme Court. He managed a large caseload which involved the vertical prosecution of homicides, robberies, narcotics felonies from short term and long term investigations to arrest and plea negotiations through grand jury indictment, motion practice, pre-trial hearings, bench and jury trials.
Mr. Garcia then joined the Office of General Counsel for NYC Department of Education. In his four years in that capacity, Mr. Garcia conduct all aspects of disciplinary hearings under Education Law §3020-A. Additionally, he represented the NYC Department of Education before the New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings where he reviewed, interpreted and enforced the Collective Bargaining Agreements between the NYC Department of Education and various unions including the United Federation of Teachers and DC 37.
Mr. Garcia also served three years as an Associate Counsel for NYC Health & Hospitals Corporation where he managed a large case load defending NYC Health & Hospital Health Care professionals from medical malpractice and/or negligence allegations from inception through discovery, including depositions, court appearances, motion practice and trial.
